Dub has been a vital member of the SLG2, Inc team sine 2017. She is a Team Lead and Firearms Instructor, who has an extraordinary ability to encourage people to find their own confidence.
How and/or why did you get started in shooting sports?
I have been an avid shooter since I was young. My uncle, who was retired from the Army, taught me how to shoot pistols and rifles which sparked my interest into shooting sports. As an adult I sought out a local women’s shooting group to help build the knowledge I was looking for to be confident in my gun handling skills. I quickly became an NRA Certified Range Safety Officer and continued training by becoming an USCCA and NRA Certified Firearms Instructor.
Why are you passionate about working for SLG2:
I was introduced to Shoot Like a Girl in 2017 and knew immediately that SLG would be the perfect place to share my passion in shooting sports. I feels that at the Shoot Like a Girl/Safe LivinG events I am able to help men, women and all communities to overcome their fear of shooting by welcoming them and showing compassion and patience. Whether that fear comes from a lack of experience or a traumatic event she is able to walk them through every step of shooting so they are confident from hitting the target, excited to learn more and leave with their heads held high and a smile on their face. I think the best part of working with Shoot Like a Girl is encouraging and empowering women to be more comfortable and confident in handling and shooting firearms.
When not shooting, what do you love to do:
When I’m not traveling with the Shoot Like a Girl team, I stay busy at my full-time job in the insurance industry which I have worked at since 2004. I love shooting firearms and my compound bow. A few years ago, I was introduced to hunting and enjoy the great outdoors. When I am not hunting you can catch me on the golf course! I have a very spoiled labrador named Guinness that never turns down a belly rub or a treat. I cherishes every second I can with friends and family.
