Brittany O’Connor has been a Pro Staff Certified Firearms Instructor for Shoot Like a Girl since 2022.
How and/or why did you get started in shooting sports?
I became involved in the shooting sports when I was a young child, after my mother remarried to my stepfather. He is a very passionate and outdoorsy Marine that would take me out hunting for spring turkey, whitetail deer and squirrel. We would harvest our own meat. Aside from hunting we would shoot clay pigeons and target practice with friends and family for fun.
In my adult years, I purchased several handguns for personal protection and ultimately ended up going into a career in Law Enforcement, where I currently serve my community. My own personal and professional experiences led me to become a Certified Firearms Instructor. I want to serve my community by helping them understand how to be their own protector when they desperately need one.
Why are you passionate about working for SLG2:
I am passionate about working for SLG2 because together we are making a huge impact on the way the world sees shooting sports. Many of the guests that come to our trailer have a story that they need to share, a question that they don’t have the answer to, or sometimes just need a little encouragement. Together as a team, SLG2 provides so much more than a positive shooting experience. We hear those stories and share ours. We answer those questions and guide perspective to create purpose. We encourage and inspire. We help our guests find their confidence and we praise them. We shine our light in their lives by empowering them to shoot with confidence.
When not shooting, what do you love to do:
When I am not out engaging in shooting sports, I am spending time with my two children, traveling the country, or teaching safety or self-defense classes. I love to explore and introduce new experiences to my children and myself.
