How and/or Why did you get started in shooting sports?
My journey to becoming a firearms instructor began with an experience I never asked for and would never wish on anyone. Surviving gun violence left me shaken and afraid of guns. For a long time, I lived with a fear that made me feel powerless. Eventually, I reached a point where I knew I needed to overcome that fear. I decided to learn about the very thing that frightened me. Seeking out a firearms instructor was one of the hardest steps I’ve ever taken, but it was also the beginning of my healing journey. As I learned how firearms function, how safety works, and how responsible handling can prevent tragedy, I felt something shift inside me. Knowledge replaced fear. Understanding replaced anxiety. Confidence replaced avoidance. Along the way, I realized that my journey could help others who were struggling with the same fear. I knew what it felt like to be overwhelmed, to freeze, to doubt. I also knew what it felt like to overcome those feelings through education and support. That realization inspired me to continue my training and become an instructor. Today, I instruct with empathy, patience, and a deep respect for the emotional journeys each individual brings with them. My mission is not just to teach skill; it is to help people reclaim their sense of safety and strength. Becoming a firearms instructor is my way of turning trauma into purpose and fear into empowerment.
Why are you passionate about working for SLG2:
My journey as a firearms instructor started when I met a SLG Instructor. She took the time to hear my story and introduce me to firearms in a way that felt safe. I want to be that person for others. I want to support others on their journey, whether they are experienced shooters, or have never held a gun. I’m passionate about education and am proud to represent SLG in its mission to introduce and educate the community about shooting sports and safe firearm handling.
When not shooting, what do you love to do:
I love spending time with my family, traveling, being outdoors, and reading.
