Amy Hunter has been with SLG2, Inc since 2017. She is an archery and firearms instructor and is the Operations and Event Manager.
How and/or why did you get started in shooting sports?
I have shot archery my whole life, competed in many tournaments for years including IBO. This led me to becoming an archery coach. I grew up in a hunting family but never did much shooting until I was in my 40’s. Once I started shooting recreationally I was hooked. I started hunting about 25 years ago, but switched to archery only hunting about 8 years ago and hunt almost exclusively on public land now. I recently also became a certified firearms instructor.
Why are you passionate about working with SLG2, Inc?
I am passionate about encouraging women in outdoor sports, and I enjoy introducing anyone to shooting that may not have ever had the opportunity. I always try to encourage people to take enough training to know how to handle any firearm or bow safely. The shooting sports world is a unique and inviting community that so many folks don’t have access to and I enjoy introducing people to it. I want everyone to be excited to get outdoors and get involved in an activity that excites you and makes you more confident!
When not shooting, what do you like to do?
When I am not shooting you will find me fishing or scouting for the next outdoor adventure. I love to read and learn. I also enjoy creating, whether it is sewing or builidng something, I get a great pleasure from being a maker.
