Suzi lives in Tennessee and is an avid archer, hunter and a archery & firearms instructor with SLG.

If you could only hunt in one season which one would it be?   There is something magical about archery deer season to me!  The leaves are changing and putting on a show of beautiful colors, and the crisp cool fall weather is my favorite.

What’s your favorite location to hunt?  Ohio and here in East Tn.

Who introduced you to hunting?  My husband.  I’m a Louisiana girl so growing up in “Sportsman Paradise” it came natural to me.  I have a lot of family that hunt too.

What do you hunt for?  Deer and turkey mostly.  Predator hunting is on my to-do list though.  I enjoy the thrill and challenge of hunting.

What hunting skill would you like to master?  Harvesting a turkey with my compound bow.

What’s your biggest hunting challenge?  Getting up at 4am.  I am not a morning person, I prefer evening hunts.    My husband would probably say I am directionally challenged.

What would be the most amazing hunting adventure that is still on your bucket list?  Going back home to Louisiana and being able to go on a gator hunt.

What hunting skill do you wish you knew more about?  Calling in turkeys or mastering a duck call.  Also bowfishing.  I believe there is always more to learn no matter what you are doing.

What’s the hardest hunting lesson you’ve learned?  Patience mostly.  And that it’s ok when things don’t always go as planned.  Don’t dwell on the “what if’s” or “could have” or “should have” moments.

If hunting was no longer an option for you what would you do with your time?  Honestly probably work, but I would like to think I would travel more.

What could you give a 40-minute presentation on with absolutely no preparation?  How to safely and properly handle a firearm.  Or anything to do with preparing to hunt, archery hunting, ethics of hunting, etc.

What style of hunting are you most passionate about?  Archery no doubt.

What do you like most about the SLG shooting trailer?  Being able to meet some amazing women as we travel all over the country!  I love it most when they come in and have little to no experience with a firearm or compound bow and they are a little hesitant and unsure of themselves, and then getting to watch their faces light up when they are able to accomplish something they didn’t think they could do!  The trailer itself is the mack daddy, bomb diggity experience and we are all so excited to be a part of the SLG mission.

If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?  Spend time with family, relax, read, travel etc.  Try and live every moment with purpose and meaning.

What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue?  I have such a gypsy soul.  I think sailing the Caribbean would be amazing!

What non hunting related skill would you like to master?  Playing the piano again.

What non hunting related .. do you wish you knew more about?

What are you interested in that most people haven’t heard of?

What’s the farthest you’ve ever been from home?  England on a business trip.

Where do you usually go when you when you have time off? During the summer you will find me on the lake.  When I have extended time off I usually go home to Louisiana or Disney World.  I’m kind of a Disney fanatic…no let’s be honest, I am a Disney fanatic.

Who inspires you to be better?  Goodness, first and foremost Jesus Christ.  My son and husband.  And myself I suppose, I try to be a better person than I was yesterday.

What are three interesting facts about you?
Three random facts about me:
1.  I am on my 6th Jeep Wrangler… so far.
2. I love researching my heritage and ancestry.
3. I can get lost in a good movie.  And when I have time, usually late in the evenings, I enjoy binge watching time period shows from the 16th century.

What is your biggest fear?  Losing loved ones, or them not knowing how much I love and cherish them.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?  If calories and clogged arteries didn’t matter it would be a good hamburger and fries.  And Snickers!  I’m certain chocolate candy bars are a major food group in Heaven.

List two pet peeves.  People that tailgate, and I don’t mean at football games!  When someone is rude or mean to someone else.  Be kind y’all!

Which of the five senses would you say is your strongest?  Sense of smell.  It used to be my sight, but I am over 40 now and anyone over 40 knows what that means!  Hahaha!  You won’t find me without a pair of readers nearby.

One thing that not a lot of people know you love to do?  Having quiet time alone.  Whether it’s at home cooking a pot of gumbo with the windows open and jazz playing, being on my pontoon boat watching the sunset, or taking a ride in my Jeep with the top off and music playing.  I enjoy clearing my mind and getting lost in the moment.

Mountains or Beach?  Any body of water!  Lake, swimming pool, beach, river etc.  Water calms my soul.

Anything else you would like to add?  Life is so short, so try new things, go new places!  Find your joy and live your life to the fullest!
