Caroline Luna – Sharing A Lifetime of Experience

Caroline Luna has been a contracted instructor with SLG2 since 2024.

How and/or Why did you get started in shooting sports?

I was blessed with a farm and ranch upbringing that involved hunting for predator and varmint control as well as for filling freezers and spending quality time outdoors. I was 5 when I took my first deer with a lever action rifle. I have been an avid hunter ever since. Putting meat in my freezer is a priority, but I enjoy all things related to firearms and competition. I married a hunter (during the summer, so it wouldn’t conflict with hunting season) and we have raised three more responsible hunters who will carry on the traditions.

Why are you passionate about working for SLG2:

Not everyone is as fortunate as I was to be born into the hunting and gun culture and to have ease of access to firearm instruction and range time as I did. Being part of one’s first experience with a pistol or rifle, and seeing the sudden change of posture and the explosion of confidence when that person hits the target is my favorite part of SLG2. Everyone who comes through our gun bar and range is on a totally different journey from mine, but we get to connect in those moments and 99 times out of 100 it is a very positive and empowering experience for both. The community of women who make up the SLG2 team have become my close friends and sisters, and I learn something new every time I am with them. It is one of the most uplifting things I get to do in life!

When not shooting, what do you love to do:

I homeschool my two youngest kiddos, so I’m frequently in the kitchen making certain that they (and my husband) are well fed with sourdough concoctions and home milled grains, ranch-raised beef, and game meat. I love to bake and experiment with sweet treats. My other interests include being horseback for ranching and cattle raising, guitar playing and singing, scouting for next season’s hunts, training for run-n-guns, and playing in the mountains of west Texas with my loved ones.
