Andrea Barkley – Bringing Joy to People Through the Experience

Andrea is a firearms instructor and has been on the SLG2, Inc team since 2022.

How and/or why did you get started in shooting sports?

I began shooting in my early 20s as a way to spend time with my then-boyfriend. I discovered I was actually good at it so the passion grew quickly, and I found opportunities to shoot as often as I could. Once I retired, shooting became a priority, and I pursued several Instructor certifications and began teaching on a regular basis.

Why are you passionate about working for SLG2: 

Once I learned about Shoot Like a Girl, I knew I had to be a part of it! My favorite part of teaching is working with women – especially the new shooters, and the SLG2 mission lines up with that. It is so rewarding to watch the confidence and joy grow when people realize they really can do it. Personal protection is integral in today’s world, and I want to help people with theirs.

When not shooting, what do you love to do: 

Since I retired, I’ve built a wonderful life full of family and friends, and a crazy pup.  And as a veteran, I volunteer with our local American Legion post assisting other veterans and supporting our community.  I enjoy visiting local wineries and exploring the beautiful mountains of Virginia. Of course, none of this would be possible without God at the center of it all.
