Jamie Meyer

Jamie Meyer began her journey into firearms after a very traumatic event that happened while on vacation in 2007. Her interest started as a means to become educated on firearm safety, and for her own personal protection. She quickly switched gears after realizing how much fun she was having at the range, when a friend suggested that she should try competitive shooting. Since then, she has competed in matches all over the U.S. to include: NRA Precision Pistol, NRA Action Pistol, Steel Challenge, USPSA, Glock Sport Shooting Foundation (GSSF), Bowling Pins, and 3 Gun (multi-gun) and was also a member of the Rudy Shooting Team in 2017. After taking a couple years off to recovery from a couple major back surgeries, Jamie was able to step back into the shooting sports and continue what she has been so passionate about from the beginning. In 2020 Jamie earned the rank of “Master Shooter” with the Glock Sport Shooting Foundation (GSSF)) and is one of only a handful of women to have achieved this rank. She has also been featured in The American Woman Shooter, FrontSight magazine, been a guest on a few podcasts and has published several articles over the years.

Jamie has also been on the “Pro Staff Team” as a Firearms Instructor for Shoot Like A Girl since 2014. Shoot Like A Girl is a female owned and operated company whose mission is to grow the number of women who participate in the shooting sports by empowering them with knowledge and confidence. They are able to educate women with the help of many highly accomplished Instructors like Jamie that can provide quality instruction in a fun and safe environment.

Jamie is a RangeMaster certified Instructor, certified House of Worship Security Instructor, certified O.C. Spray/Less than Lethal Tools Instructor, certified USPSA Range Officer, NRA Range Safety Officer, certified NRA Firearms Instructor for Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Refuse to Be a Victim, and certified through the State of Oklahoma to teach the Self Defense Act (Conceal/Open Carry) classes. She was also one of the founding members of the “A Girl & A Gun” chapter that first started in Oklahoma in 2012. Additionally, she has trained with many top tier Instructors over the years and feels very blessed to have so many friends and mentors in the industry that she is so passionate about. Her training background includes hundreds of hours of professional instruction on a variety of topics mostly related to self-defense, and competitive shooting. Some of the topics she has focused her personal training on primarily include: personal mindset, defensive handgun, shotgun & carbine for home defense, legal ramifications of deadly force, situational awareness for self-preservation, emergency aid and hemorrhage control techniques, non-lethal tools, verbal agility and close range encounters, managing unknown contacts and identifying pre-assault indicators. With her extensive background on self-defense combined with her knowledge of the competitive shooting sports it has made her a well-regarded Instructor and an accomplished marksman.

Since 2012, Jamie’s primary focus has been on educating women and she has often been asked to attend as a Guest Instructor by local women’s shooting organizations such as “A Girl & A Gun”, and “The Well Armed Woman”. A few of the topics she has given seminars on have included: Basic Firearm Safety and Handgun Fundamentals; Gun Cleaning 101; Firearm/Holster/Gear Selection for Your Needs; How to Draw and Safely Re-holster Your Firearm; Competitive Shooting Disciplines and What You Need to Know Before Attending Your First Match; Dry-Fire Practice Tips and Situational Awareness. Jamie takes pride in giving women a solid foundation of knowledge and skills before they move on to more advanced training.

If she is not on the road with SLG, competing in a pistol match or instructing at a local range you will likely find her at home practicing with her compound bows, airsoft guns or hanging out with her husband and three dogs. She likes to keep herself busy with a variety of activities and is always up to something fun. In 2020 when COVID had shut down all of her training opportunities and matches, she decided to pick her bow up and she began competing in local 3D tournaments. She also joined a couple indoor shooting leagues for the first time ever and ended up winning 1st place on one league and 2nd place on the other. Jamie was extremely excited to start bow hunting and was elated when she got her first deer with her compound bow. She cannot wait until bow season starts again and loves to be in the outdoors with nature.
