Why We Started Shoot Like A Girl
Hi, I’m Karen Butler, the owner and president of SLG², Inc. I am proud to bring SLG², Inc. to all women so we can make educated buying decisions and be happy with equipment we purchase! I started shooting a bow in 2000, after I went camping with some friends and shot my first bow and rifle! I was instantly hooked on the thrill, power and control you have of the weapon…the accuracy is all up to you and no one else. Well, I went to a store and was sold a bow….now, I didn’t know anything about shooting, and the store keeper did not take me seriously, but I took his word for it, and bought a bow…it was a kid’s bow, and way too small for a 5’10” woman. So I learned to shoot with my arm bent, and got frustrated when I couldn’t get any better. After being told by many people in my shooting league that my bow was too small for me, I made another investment and bought my second bow…this one was longer, 26” draw length; the only problem, I’m a 27 1/4” draw length. So, after a second realization, I gave that bow to my kids, and finally bought a custom ordered bow from a well respected dealer in 2004. With this bow, I was able to correct years of bad habits developed from shooting incorrectly to compensate for equipment that didn’t fit me, and I won the 2006 Colorado State Championship in my division. Having the right equipment has enabled me to gain confidence in my shot and compete on a National and International level; as well as hunt with the knowledge that I can make the shot. SLG², Inc will provide you with an opportunity to test multiple bows and find the right one for you, and save you the years and money I spent in finding the right bow. The truth is that it is hard to find a large selection of bows in one place that meet women’s specifications to test before we buy. This is where SLG², Inc will have an impact on women entering archery and being able to “Shoot Like A Girl”! We will conduct Test Flight Seminars at the three National NFAA tournaments in Las Vegas, Louisville and Yankton. We are working with manufacturers and hope to have most every variety of bow and multiple accessories option that fit the specific needs of all women. After you have had the opportunity to shoot many different makes and models of bows, we will provide you with a specifications card of your preferences, the name and location of the nearest retailer to your home; then you can visit your local dealer and order your bow and accessories with confidence! Ladies, here’s proof, we can bring home the bacon! This was my first hunt in 2005, thanks to Jerry and David for taking me with them!
I will share my shooting stories with you, but I know there are over 585,000 women that hunt with a bow and over 2 million women who target shoot so please share your stories, wins and tips with our readers. Submit your stories and pictures with this handy form. Again, I’m proud to serve women who want to enter or improve their information on archery equipment, and I hope to meet you at the tournaments in 2009! Check back often to see our updated list of participating manufacturers in our Test Flight Seminars. Remember, “Shoot Like a Girl!” |
